Exercise

If you have questions about the exercise that may also be relevant for other students, please use the provided contact options.

The dates for the labs will be announced in due time.

Note: The exercises traditionally start and end at 23:55 unless otherwise stated. You can earn a maximum of 100 points for the exercise.

For those of you who have little or no experience with Linux, we have compiled a few links to Linux introductions.

Additionally, during the semester there will be an optional Linux introduction in the form of a workshop. Further information will be announced in due time.

The contents of these Linux workshops will exclusively cover Linux basics relevant for use in the ESSE labs, e.g., using SSH via shell, changing directories, displaying files, copying files, etc. If you have already used Linux via the shell, it will likely be sufficient to look at the slides used in the Linux workshop. You will then most likely not learn any new content.

To participate in the Linux workshop, you first need to complete an introductory exercise. Information on this will be available in Moodle once registration for the Linux workshop opens. This additional exercise may also be completed by students who do not participate in the Linux workshop, in which case they will receive an extra point for the exercise.

If you have further questions, please use our contact options.

Test

The test will be conducted in person.

No materials are allowed during the test. The test material includes the contents of the lectures and exercises.

There are a total of 2 opportunities to take the test.

The certificates will be issued approximately 3–4 weeks after the test date. If you need your certificate earlier, please send us an e-mail no later than 1 week after the test date. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

If you wish to review your test, please attend the general review session (main date) or contact us by e-mail no later than 1 week after the publication of the test points.

Grading Scale

S1 <= 200
U2 < 176
B3 < 151
G4 < 126
N5 < 101

Please note that a positive grade is only awarded if both the exercise and lecture components of the course are passed, i.e., you must have more than 50 points in each part individually.

Note: Moodle may not display this correctly when you view your grade. Please always compare your points with this table.
